Very, very naughty McK

There's just been too much going on in the McK household! Big changes in my writing life (good or bad? Can't tell, they are still happening!) and also in the family - we have a big move coming up, but we're not sure yet where we will go or when it will happen!

May was a good writing month - I'm safe, but I can only award myself a handful of points for June. I suspect July will be a month off, and August may end up that way too. When life is all sorted, I will be back...

And Mothereeee, exactly what proportion of that cv was fiction? One point or two?!

First, eh? let me start, then, by announcing the novel I submitted in April has been accepted and will be out in August. (Things move fast in the ebook world.) Do I get a point for that? ;)

May, I'm calling post-novel recovery.

Words written: 11,601. 4 points.

Yup! That's it.

Congratulations, Jenna!

I had a good month in June. Lots of early mornings at Starbucks before work. I think I pulled in about 24,000 new words on the WIP. Give or take. So I think that puts me out of koala claw range, right?

Three points for May. June is sitting at five and hopefully will go up by one or more in the last few days.

May was a good month:

Words written: 6,500 (one complete short story and the start of another) = 2 points

Words edited: 4,000 (the first short story) = 1 point

One short story submitted = 1 point

Six guest blog posts written (or was it 7? I think one was written in April) = 6 points

Giving a total of 10 points.

June, not so good, although I wrote something almost every day:

10k words written (continuation of one short story, one complete short-short story) = 3 points

2.5k words edited (tidying up the first short story before adding more) which hopefully gives me 1 point

1 guest blog post written and posted = 1 point

Which gives me only 4 points

Or is that 5 points?

Thanks, Peter!

For June, I participated in Camp Nanowrimo, edited the upcoming novel and worked on a short story.

Words written: 55,570.
Words edited: 105,700.

I'll just claim 10 points here.

Not sure what happened this month. Very unproductive all round. So I'll add to my measly 3000 words a couple of things I forgot last month, namely self pubbing 2 estories and reading a friend's WIP.

Does that qualify me for a badge/icon free of blood or claw swats?

Well done to Jenna. Keep us informed.

Took May off due to breaking off my engagement, moving, job-hunting (which is ongoing), a death in the family, AND cancer in the family. It was a rough month.

June:
Wrote about 10,000 words in various projects - so 4 points
Plus 7 poetry submissions, for a total of 11 points.

Yay for all the good news, and pets and loves for the not so good news.

Um...May. Can I recall that far back?

Edited 65k, wrote 25k, formatted and selfpubbed a story (should compare formatting techniques with you, Whirl) and beta read a novel. I claim a sprig of eucalypt.

June
Edited 72k, wrote 26k, beta'd a novel, obsessed over how the story was selling (-1 point), wrote 3 guest posts, launched a book, and decided I know what drives writers to drink.

Forget the eucalypt, hand me a martini!

I'm trying to remember June stuff - can't find my little cheat note where I tally stuff up!

I did send write a new query, send it and the first three chapters to an editor.

I worked on my 2nd novel, plus reread and edited those first three chapters (39 pages).

So I don't know the number of points, but I'm safe!

All of it.
But I wrote some words this month! I did! I don't know how many, but it was a couple of pages so keep those paws holstered and away from my valuable tush, no smackies for me this month, yay!
